JoJo Siwa celebrates 2 years since coming out, proud of who she was at 17

• The 19-year-old Dance Moms alum honored the second anniversary of her coming out
• On Saturday by sharing a significant throwback photo with her 11.4 million Instagram followers.
• Siwa captioned the photo, “I am SO proud of 17-year-old JoJo.”

JoJo Siwa wearing a “BEST. GAY. COUSIN. EVER.” T-shirt, which she previously posted to come out as a member of the LGBTQ community in a series of posts on TikTok and Instagram back in January 2021. Siwa teased the announcement at the time by visiting the TikTok crew Pride House LA and lip-syncing Lady Gaga’s 2011 LGBTQ song “Born This Way.”

It was the “first time that I have felt so personally joyful,” the TIME 100 recipient said, adding that she was still working out how to name her identity.

In April 2021, she remarked, “I do not know, bisexual, pansexual, queer, lesbian, homosexual, straight.” “I always just say homosexual because it kind of covers it or queer because I think the keyword is great,” the speaker said.

Added Siwa “I enjoy queer. I would categorise myself as pansexual because that is how I have always been; my entire life has been like, “My human is my human,” in that sense.”

The Celebrate artist made a public appearance with her girlfriend Kylie Prew on their one-month anniversary soon after coming out. After dating for three months and terminating their on-and-off relationship during the summer, Siwa recently made the news of their breakup public.

Siwa has since been candid about the reason for the split. “‘Cause I got used!” she said on TikTok last month. “For views and for clout, and I got tricked into being told that I was loved, and I got f—ing played!”
