Lily Collins’ Emily returns in Season 3 of “Emily in Paris” with a bang.

The season’s titular marketing guru begins by giving herself “trauma bangs”; this rosé-fueled decision also led to a change in how she will be made up for the upcoming episodes.

Head makeup artist Aurélie Payen explains that in order to “workaround” Emily Cooper’s (Lily Collins) new hairstyle for Season 3, “we wanted to have a significant transformation.”

“[Emily] is possibly a little bit more self-aware… and I wanted to give her a somewhat more refined look with my makeup.

Collins, however, did have a part in Emily’s beauty routine, which included lipstick that was as daring as her typical outré ensembles, even though she never cut her own hair in real life.

Payen, who collaborates closely with Lily and her hairstylist, says they play a “little game” to make sure they agree on the right items for the right scenarios.

“I know the [shade] I want to have already… But I respond, “OK, Lily, pick whatever one you like.” She consistently makes the same decision as me.

Along with working with Collins, Payen was also influenced by a number of Hollywood icons from the past. For example, some of Emily’s looks “make an homage to Audrey Hepburn,” according to Payen, while Camille (Camille Razat eyeliner )’s resembles Brigitte Bardot.

The makeup artist claims, “I wanted to have an individuality for each of the [characters].” “I wanted some of them to be more French cosmetics, and some of them to be more American glam,” the author said.

For example, Camille and Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) represent the latter trend, a “fresh” look with less foundation and more blush, whilst Mindy (Ashley Park) opts for more glitter and contouring.

According to Payen, “[Emily] is like a bridge in between; she has incredibly bold, strong lips, which are more American, but she wears makeup very French-style.

How do you achieve that French-girl glam look on your own? Contrary to the answers to this season’s cliffhangers, Payen’s beauty secrets will be revealed. Continue reading for a breakdown of her best advice and set necessities.

The CurrentBody LED Light Therapy Mask ($380), which is featured in Episode 1 of the season, and the Payot face mist, which Payen “really loves using” for preparation, touch-ups, and post-makeup removal, were her go-to products on set.

Working with a lot of blush [will] offer shine, if you want to have the French-girl style, explains Payen. You can also apply blush to the nose to give your face that “little sunshine [look]”

According to Payen, whose team utilizes a variety of foundations, including the light Armani formula, “I don’t like heavy makeup, therefore I really want to work with foundation that I can blend with concealer and apply with minimal touches.”
The Hypnôse solution from Lancôme, which Payen used on Lily Collins’ thick lashes this season, is something she “truly adores.”
