After receiving boycott requests from several people, including politicians, the Pathaan crew, including Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, and others, released the movie on Wednesday. Prakash Raj praised them on Twitter. The actor recently tweeted that Shah Rukh “is back” and showered Pathaan’s team with affection. To his tweet, he included the hashtag “Besharam Rang.” Some people criticised the Pathaan song since it featured Deepika in an orange bathing suit.

The day before Republic Day in 2023, on January 25, Pathaan was made available in theatres. On the day of Pathaan’s premiere, Prakash Raj tweeted: “Hey, shun bigots. Shhhhhhhhh… Halla bol, King Khan (yell louder)… Keep rocking with Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, and team Pathaan now that Shah Rukh Khan is back!” When Deepika’s attire in the song Besharam Rang was criticised earlier in December of last year, Prakash also took to Twitter to defend her.

Reacting to his latest tweet, a Twitter user wrote, “Prakash Raj is the only actor, politician and activist, who celebrates others’ success as his own.” Another one tweeted, “Boycott gang is crying in a corner. King (Shah Rukh Khan) is back.” However, a section of Twitter users asked Prakash to substantiate his claim, with one tweeting, “Can you please attach a screenshot of any theater, where Pathaan is running successfully?”

There have been boycott requests and demonstrations from several political organisations against Pathaan, particularly its song Besharam Rang. Following the release of the song’s music video, some political parties took issue with Deepika Padukone’s orange swimsuit, notably its colour, leading to rallies and the burning of posters around the nation. When Besharam Rang was launched in December 2022, among others, Narottam Mishra, the home minister for Madhya Pradesh, opposed to it.

Threats to stop screenings and boycott calls, however, seem to have failed given Pathaan’s encouraging first-day box office performance. “Pathaan has scored a tremendous opening day at the box office,” according to a Box Office India report, “taking a 50-51 crore nett collection in its Hindi version.” Trade analyst Taran Adarsh had earlier told the news agency PTI that Pathaan will “revive Bollywood” and usher in a “great 2023” for the motion picture industry.
