Prince Harry’s statements on Taliban militants have been criticised as “wrong on every level” by a former Defence Secretary.

A slew of ex-military figures criticised the king today after a leaked chapter of his autobiography Spare claimed he murdered 25 people in Afghanistan.

It was a  “very serious mistake” according to John Hutton, who served as Defence Secretary under Gordon Brown and then chaired the defence think tank RUSI.

“It’s absolutely not the right thing for anyone to be saying, and I’m sure he now bitterly regrets saying that. the Labour peer told Media sources

“I think it diminishes him, and I think it’s not what we expect from someone who has held the positions of authority and responsibility that he has previously occupied.

“It’s just not what should be said, it’s just wrong, on every level,” Mr Hutton added.
