SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) — Rescue workers in California have started looking for a second hiker on the same mountain where missing hiker Julian Sands is believed to have gone missing.

According to a statement from the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department, the search and rescue team was asked to look for a 75-year-old Los Angeles man atop Mount Baldy on Sunday.

According to the sheriff’s office, Jin Chung of North Hollywood was last seen at 6 a.m. on Sunday.

Chung travelled to the mountain in a carpool with two other people and had agreed to meet them there at 2 p.m., but Chung did not show up, according to officials. After Chung was reported missing, ground personnel looked for him without luck.

Rescuers continued their fruitless search for Sands on Mt. Baldy over the weekend, according to the sheriff’s office.

“Helicopters and drones continued to use infrared devices during the search however, all were negative for any signs of Sands,” the department’s statement said.

65-year-old Sands went lost while trekking on January 13. Around 40 miles (64 kilometres) northeast of downtown Los Angeles, near the San Gabriel Mountains, search and rescue teams started looking for him.
