Sharon Osbourne remembers defending Piers Morgan over Meghan Markle
Insisting that “I’ve never spoken with hate,” Sharon Osbourne remembered a trying yet challenging period in which she was dropped from events and “blacklisted” in America for standing up for her buddy.
She vociferously supported Piers Morgan on The Talk in March 2021 in the face of criticism from the panel that he had been “racist and misogynistic” in his coverage of Meghan Markle.
The television personality said she is living proof that one may be blacklisted in America when she appeared on This Morning on Monday. She also said: “I got threats!”
When asked why she was coming back to the UK, Sharon said, “I can’t get jailed in America.” Error occurred. It went terribly wrong.
‘They say there isn’t blacklisting in America but I’m living proof that there is. Not that I’m resentful or whatever. It’s just a fact of life, it happens doesn’t it?’
Phillip asked: ‘So did you actually got cancelled?’ to which the former X Factor judge insisted: ‘Yes I did.’
Sharon went on to talk about the backlash after defending Piers Morgan after his comments on Meghan Markle’s Oprah interview.
I’ve received threats and things like that, she claimed. It’s as if I can see myself in the mirror and recognise that I can talk and that I’m loud.
But I never use hateful language, and I always defend my friends, which is what I was doing. I’m aware of who I am.
Back in March 2021, Piers Morgan was criticised publicly for his comments on Meghan Markle, and Sharon and her former co-host on The Talk, Sheryl Underwood, got into a heated exchange about them.
