SRK gives Bollywood new energy with a $51 million for Pathaan
The domestic box office for Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan is off to a fantastic start. Pathaan’s opening day numbers rank among the best of all time, surpassing those of War (2019), which made 50 crore net and KGF 2 (Hindi), which made 52 crore net. Early projections indicate that Pathaan’s Hindi adaptation made an incredible 50–51 crore nett on its opening day at the domestic box office.
In Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, Pathaan was released on Wednesday, the day before Republic Day 2023. Siddharth Anand is the film’s director, while Yash Raj Films is the production company.
“Pathaan has scored a tremendous opening day at the box office,” according to a Box Office India report, “taking a 50-51 crore nett collection in its Hindi version.” According to the article, Bahubali: The Conclusion (in Hindi), which was the greatest non-holiday opener before Pathaan, the action movie, which also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, has shattered non-holiday records by a wide margin. SS Rajamouli is the film’s director. It takes place in 2017.

Trade expert Taran Adarsh shared Pathaan‘s anticipated first-day collections at national chains on Twitter on Wednesday. He claims that the movie made more money up to Wednesday night ($25.05 crore) than Hrithik Roshan’s War ($19.67 crore) did on its first weekend at cinema networks. He tweeted: “Day 1 of Pathaan at national chains 8.15 p.m. update PVR made $11.40 billion, INOX $8.75 billion, and Cinepolis $4.90 billion. 25.05 crore in total. SUPERB. Note: At multiplex chains, the complete day numbers for Better than War ($19.67 crore), TOH ($18 crore), Thugs of Hindostan ($18 crore), and KGF ($22.15 crore).”
Adarsh had told PTI that Pathaan will revitalise Bollywood and usher in a wonderful 2023 for the motion picture industry. Before Pathaan’s release, he had predicted that the movie will have a historic opening day with receipts of between 45 and 50 crore. Pathaan will start the box office comeback, especially given the rarity of its advance booking. Despite it being a working day, 2023 is off to a fantastic start.
Industry observer Ramesh Bala tweeted on Thursday about the movie’s first day’s global box office earnings. He stated: “Pathaan has a record-breaking global box office debut, earning over $100 crore. In the UAE and Singapore, No. 1 debut.” He added, “Pathaan has crossed $1 million in the US by Wednesday afternoon,” in another tweet.
With its amazing advance bookings, the movie Pathaan broke records even before it was released. On January 20, advance reservations for Pathaan were available. Many theatre owners in India decided to screen the movie early in the morning due to rising demand. In the midst of the Pathaan mania, there were also rumours that the morning showings of the movie had been cancelled due to Indore theatre protests.
