Teaser for “Infinity Pool” features haunting & cloning nightmare
Brandon Cronenberg’s trippy horror thriller Infinity Pool is the next stop on the ghoulish genre train, with M3GAN, the 2023 film season wasted no time in frightening audiences, and The movie with Alexander Skarsgrd and Mia Goth in the lead debuts next Friday. The most recent teaser for Infinity Pool now further demonstrates its surreal, dreamlike atmosphere.
The latest teaser shows Skarsgrd’s James being led by Goth’s Gabi down a sinister rabbit hole of unsettling imagery that includes seduction, warped neon colour work, and unsettling cult-like initiations.
The movie follows James as he and his girlfriend Em, who is portrayed by Cleopatra Coleman, vacation on a secluded island. When they meet Gabi, a member of a dubious organisation on the island, things quickly turn bad.
The unfortunate couple’s only chance of survival after being involved in an accident and receiving the death penalty is to clone themselves and have their offspring punished for the crimes they committed.
It appears that James is drugged and set up by Gabi before being made to participate in her evil game, based on the full trailer and this new teaser.
This entails assimilating into their community of crime-loving, skin-mask wearing, and body-horror enthusiasts. The more of this movie’s distinctive brand of nightmare fuel and intense atmosphere we see, the more seductively eerie it seems.
The sky’s the limit for how horrific Infinity Pool can truly be when Cronenberg’s work is combined with Goth’s insanely committed style.
Cronenberg already has a brilliantly twisted mind. The Cronenberg family has a reputation for producing body horror films, with Brandon’s father David Cronenberg best known for The Fly and Scanners.
With the shockingly underappreciated 2021 horror thriller Possessor, Brandon carried on his father’s genre tradition. The film is a deeply unsettling horror thriller that examines the morality of impersonation and the ominous true meaning of identity.
These fundamental ideas appear to be applied in a much darker and emotionally desperate/deranged story in Infinity Pool.
Infinity Pool is going to be one must-see wild ride for horror fans, especially with Goth coming off the critically acclaimed X and Pearl and Skarsgrd’s performance being one of the most intimately brutal of last year.
On January 27, 2023, the terrifying film Infinity Pool will debut in theatres. Tickets are currently available, and you can view the new teaser and the previous trailer for the movie below.
