With significant Season 4 revamp, cast of RHOSLC is up for grabs

Utah’s PARK CITY — The cast of “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” is changing, but not just due to Jen Shah’s legal issues.

The Bravo network plans to recast three of its Utah “Housewives,” one of whom is undoubtedly Shah, who will begin serving a sentence of more than six years in jail next month.

One of the participants explains that tryouts were performed in the fall. Three of them were up for replacement, they said. They weren’t sure if they would hire new people or promote some of the “friends.”

Lisa Barlow, Whitney Rose, Meredith Marks, and Heather Gay are all said to be “safe.” The show’s increased “darkness” is what led to the casting changes.

The source might be alluding to the recent drama surrounding the program when Gay, 40, inexplicably developed a nasty black eye and steadfastly refused to disclose how she acquired it, inspiring viewers to come up with a bewildering array of theories.

Over the course of the past three seasons, the friend group has undergone numerous changes. Rose, 36, and Gay, also known as “bad weather,” are cousins and ex-best friends who had a significant falling out over the past year that they haven’t been able to patch up.

Barlow, 48, and Marks, 51, who had been pals for a decade, have also been apart ever since Barlow, in a passionate hot mic outburst from Season 2, called Marks “f-king half of New York” and made other less-than-kind remarks.

Our informant says, “They’re attempting to bring in new women to lighten it up,” adding that the women they’re searching for are as usual “over-the-top.” It’s true that they are considering new Housewives, a second person tells us, confirming what we had reported.

On March 30, 2021, while filming Season 2 of the popular Bravo show, Shah was detained for operating a statewide telemarketing operation that targeted the elderly. This is when Shah’s legal troubles started to materialize.

Shah, 49, continued to appear on “RHOSLC” and strongly defended her innocence, but just a few days before her July trial date, she changed her plea to guilty. This month, the Bravolebrity received a six-and-a-half-year prison term.

Jen Shah’s lawyer issued a statement at the time of her conviction earlier this month, saying, “Jen Shah truly regrets the mistakes she has made and is profoundly remorseful to everyone she has injured.”

The statement said, “Jen has faith in our legal system, knows that anyone who violates the law will be punished, and accepts this punishment as just.”

Shah will begin an outpatient mental health treatment program after her sentence is through, and throughout her five years of supervised release, she will be subject to random drug testing.

While neither Bravo nor Shah have publicly stated what Shah’s future plans are for the network, Shah appeared to seal that door when she said she would not be sitting down for an in-depth interview with Andy Cohen.

Shah posted on Thursday via Instagram, “I won’t be doing the 1:1 with Andy Cohen and Bravo because they won’t remove contractual restrictions that would allow the network to legally misrepresent me and my story.”

The “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” reunion will be broadcast in part one on Bravo on Wednesday, January 25 at 8 p.m. ET.
