Aaron Carter was conspicuously absent from the heartfelt Grammys in memoriam tribute, which paid tribute to several musical legends who had passed away in the previous year. On November 5, 2022, the former child pop singer, who is best known for his albums Aaron’s Party and L’V, passed away at the age of 34.
A number of musicians were honored during the 2023 in memoriam segment. In memory of Loretta Lynn, Kacey Musgraves sang a melancholy version of “Coal Miner’s Daughter.” For Migos musician Takeoff, Quavo and Maverick City Music performed his most recent song, “Without You.” Meanwhile, Christine McVie was treated to a performance of “Songbird” by Sheryl Crow, Mick Fleetwood, and Bonnie Raitt. During the performances, additional names and faces flashed on the screen behind them.
Carter was mentioned in the in memoriam portion of the physical Grammys programme, according to People magazine, even though it was not seen on television. Carter, the younger brother of Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys, first gained popularity with his self-titled debut album in 1997. Aaron’s Party (Come Get It) followed in 2000.
“Aaron’s Party (Come Get It),” “That is How I Beat Shaq,” and his cover of The Strangeloves’ “I Want Candy” were among his early hits. Before starting his first solo tour in 2000, Aaron supported the Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears on their respective tours. The 2023 Grammy Awards will be broadcast live from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on CBS and Paramount+ on Sunday night.
