Are new Lord of the Rings films being developed by Warner Bros?
During the fourth quarter earnings call, the CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery announced plans to make more Lord of the Rings films. The Embracer Group, the Swedish gaming company that owns the rights to J.R.R. Tolkien’s books, has made a deal with Warner Bros. co-owned production company New Line Cinema, which produced the original Hobbit and Lord of the Rings films.
Warner Bros. has previously expressed interest in adapting the Lord of the Rings original trilogy. According to reports, HBO pitched the show idea to J.R.R. Tolkien’s earlier, retelling the same stories from the original films in a different way, but they rejected it.
J.R.R. Tolkien fans now have multiple options for the adaptation of fantasy novels Lord of the Rings with the Warner Bros. Discovery films. This is due to the fact that Amazon’s TV show, Rings of Power, is based on a similar plot.
The new Warner Bros. Discovery of J.R.R. books project will be developed by Warner Bros. production company New Line Cinema.
In an interview with Variety, Peter Jackson, director of the original Lord of the Rings trilogy, along with Philippa Boyens and Fran Walsh, stated that both Embracer and Warner Bros. kept them updated at all stages. They are eager to hear the fantasy’s vision as it progresses.
The Lord of the Rings trilogy was a critical and commercial success, grossing over $3 billion worldwide. The Hobbit, Peter Jackson’s follow-up film, was also a success.
