During their 15-year marriage, King Charles III and his first wife, Princess Diana, were frequently photographed together, with professional photographs capturing everything from their engagement to the birth of their two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry.
However, one unusual detail in many of the photographs continues to perplex royal fans: King Charles’ height.
Several photographs of the monarch and the late Princess Diana, who died in 1997, show His Majesty standing several inches taller than Diana, when the couple were actually the same height, 1.78m, or just under 5ft 9.
It’s undeniable when you see the couple standing next to each other, as evidenced by their official engagement photo, anniversary photos, and adorable family portraits.
In fact, Princess Diana often wore flat shoes or shoes with a very small heel to avoid towering over her then-husband, and she had to carefully select her wedding shoes to ensure she wasn’t too tall.
Despite their similar heights, many photos taken during their marriage show King Charles, who was the Prince of Wales at the time of their marriage, to be significantly taller than Diana.
One social media user previously shared a series of photos showing the monarch standing taller than Diana, and many others commented on the unusual detail.
