Kate Middleton subverts royal protocol by reuniting with former teacher?
Princess Kate Middleton continued to defy unwritten royal protocol by hugging her former history teacher Jim Embury.
During her trip to Cornwall on Thursday, she reconnected with an old schoolteacher.
Jim Embury was hugged by Kate Middleton at the National Maritime Museum in Falmouth, Cornwall, where he is now a volunteer.
In the 1990s, Jim Embury taught Kate at St Andrew’s prep school in Pangbourne, Berkshire.
“Oh my goodness,” the Princess of Wales exclaimed as she hugged Embury.
According to reports, hugging well-wishers and fans during royal engagements is generally regarded as a violation of unwritten royal rules.
Members of the royal family, however, are increasingly doing so in order to engage with the public more closely.
During a trip to Scotland last year, Kate Middleton also broke the “no selfie” rule.
Despite the fact that royals are not supposed to pose for photographs with members of the public, Princess of Wales happily agreed.
