Magic Mike’s Last Dance getting digital release soon
Magic Mike’s Last Dance is on its way to a digital release. The third entry in Channing Tatum’s labor of love had a strong opening weekend at the box office. Because female viewers preferred the sensuous comedic drama, the movie triumphed over other recent releases including James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water and Titanic.
The movie’s Twitter handle indicated that it will now be accessible digitally for fans who would rather purchase a copy on February 28.
The movie has so far made $48.8 million at the international box office and was written by the prior two movies’ screenwriter Reid Carolin in addition to being directed by franchise director Steven Soderbergh. It also has a 74 percent audience approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but some fans and critics had mixed to neutral reviews of the movie.
After seeing the Broadway adaptation, the director was immediately motivated to turn it into a full-length picture. The movie was originally intended to be a straight-to-HBO Max feature, but positive responses from the test screenings encouraged the producers to switch to a theatrical distribution, which was successful.
The ensemble cast also includes Ayub Khan Din as Victor, Vicki Pepperdine as Edna, Alan Cox as Roger, Caitlin Gerard as Kim, Jemelia George as Zadie, and Juliette Motamed as Hannah, all of whom deliver strong performances. Tatum plays Mike and Hayek plays Maxandra. As executive producers, Tatum and Carolin work with Nicholas Wechsler, Gregory Jacobs, and Peter Kiernan.
