Shehnaaz Gill delays her performance due to Azaan

Shehnaaz Gill was about to sing on stage recently when she heard the Azaan call and delayed her performance out of respect.

Fans have been praising her for her sensitivity ever since the video from the Mumbai event went viral. She went to the event on Wednesday evening.

Shehnaaz is seen in the video accepting her award for Lokmat Digital Personality of the Year before Siddharth Kannan asks her to sing a few lines. “It’s wonderful. Nobody deserved this award more than you. Please sing a few lines, anything at all. Sing those few lines with whatever is in your heart. Your fans are eagerly awaiting your performance. I’ve received requests stating that people will not eat unless Shehnaaz sings.”

“Should I sing an unreleased song?” Shehnaaz wondered at first.

However, when asked to do so, she stated, “That is not possible. No, I’ll sing an already-released song.” She was about to begin when she heard the Azaan (prayer call) and paused, her head bowed in respect. She only began singing after the Azaan.

Shehnaaz’s fans flooded the internet with comments praising her. “Love love love she’s everything a fan could ever dream of how their idols should be super proud!” one of them wrote.

“My girl #ShehnaazGill is pure soul, lots of love and respect for her, so nice of her not to sing during #Azaan prayers,” said another.

Shehnaaz chose a black one-shoulder gown for her appearance at the event. Apart from her, the event was attended by actors Ashish Vidyarthi, Rupali Ganguly, Prajakta Kohli, writer Munawar Faruqui, and Bigg Boss 16 winner and rapper MC Stan.

Shehnaaz Gill hosts a YouTube chat show called Desi Vibes with Shehnaaz Gill, in which she has interviewed Shahid Kapoor and Bhuvan Bam, among many other celebrities.

She made her film debut in Diljit Dosanjh’s Honsla Rakh and is now awaiting the release of her Bollywood debut, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, in which she co-stars with Salman Khan.

Another project she is working on is Sajid Khan’s 100. Riteish Deshmukh, John Abraham, and Nora Fatehi also star.
