The fourth chapter of the John Wick series is referred to by Keanu Reeves as his toughest to date for a cause. The risks have gotten higher and higher for Chad Stahelski’s titular assassin-turned-rogue over the years. The 58-year-old actor maintains his cool demeanor while calmly listening to each query and providing as much information as he can. The actor and his director join a group interview online, and they are both attentive. If the actor seems to miss a word in the question, he makes sure to repeat it.

Donnie Yen will play Caine, Laurence Fishburne will play Bowery King, Rina Sawayama will play Akira, Ian McShane will play Winston, Shamier Anderson will play Tracker, Hiroyuki Sanada will play Shimazu, Clancy Brown will play The Harbinger, Lance Reddick will play Charon, and Scott Adkins will play Killa. In John Wick: Chapter 4, which makes its fourth appearance on screen after three successful outings, the Wick universe is approaching a new era, and the legendary hitman Baba Yaga is ready to wreck havoc on his enemies with his lethal fighting prowess and combat abilities. It will be the longest movie in the franchise and a direct sequel to the 2019 movie John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum. Following Chapter 3 – Parabellum, fans of the series are anxious to find out how John Wick confronts the High Table.

“Ah, Bill is amazing,” he says. “I had a few scenes with him, which were very fun.” To explain that both of them were indeed going for one another in the scenes, he raises his hands up in front and forms a fist. “You were we were kind of diametrically opposed, and I guess he is just challenging John Wick. He’s such a marvellous actor and I thought his performance as the Marquis was and is just a delight. So it was wonderful to work with such a craftsperson.”

Keanu again takes a moment to think when discussing the action sequences in John Wick Chapter 4 and what some of the hardest parts were for him to film. He smiles and says, “Let’s see out of all the challenges,” and next to him, director Chad Stahelski also cracks a grin. When asked for a firm answer, Keanu makes an impression with both hands, touching his face while keeping his palms close together. “Which are the gifts… (smiles), probably the nunchucks! Two pieces of wood with chain… it was a new skill for me and I wasn’t very good at them.”

But I tried,” Keanu continues, and Chad interjects with the term “persevered” in between. But what I think I lacked in ability, I think I had in earnestness, Keanu says, repeating the word in agreement. With a smile, Chad says, “Enthusiasm, a lot of enthusiasm!” as he nods in agreement. According to Keanu, who concurs with his director, “I think learning a new skill and attempting to achieve a John Wick-level, which is a very high level, was probably the most difficult.”

On March 24, 2023, Lionsgate and PVR Pictures will show John Wick: Chapter 4 in Indian theaters.
