Ramadan, the Muslim holy month, is set to begin. Ramadan is observed with great respect by Muslims everywhere. They spend their time in prayer. The holy month of Ramadan is highly revered and passionately observed in Pakistan. During Suhoor and Aftar hours, people enjoy spending time in worship and assisting one another by setting up food on the side of the road. Mosques also see large crowds of worshippers. Throughout this month, people practise Islam more.

During the holy month of Ramadan, Pakistani television networks regularly broadcast romantic comedy dramas. Four romantic comedy dramas will air each day again this year.

These dramas will air at 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., with the daily episode of the ongoing weekly drama. Taraweeh time is from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Chand Tara, Janjal Pura, and Fairy Tale are some of the romantic comedies to be presented this Ramadan.

The public was incensed after viewing advertisements or reading news reports for romantic comedy plays. Some claim that these channels are outright showing romantic comedy programmes throughout the month of worship. The general consensus is that since the month of Ramadan only occurs once a year, these stations want viewers to entirely disregard their religious obligations in favour of enjoyment. People were exhorted to boycott such dramas in favour of worship and prayer. They asked that during times of worship, television viewers refrain from watching. If dramas must be created, a Facebook user suggested producing Islamic dramas like Yeh Raah Mushkil Nahi.

Here is how the internet is reacting towards this:

Ramzan is one of the most special occasions among Muslims. They are supposed to spend it as it is prescribed in the Holy Quran. As long as these serials are concerned, the timings of the airing of these serials must be rescheduled so the time of Taraweeh and these dramas don’t collide.
