In spring, Bupkis, a new Peacock series starring Pete Davidson, will premiere. Peacock revealed on Wednesday that they will release all eight of the comedy’s initial season’s episodes on May 4.

In a plot that is based on his own life, Davidson, who also wrote and executive produced the series, stars as a fictionalized version of himself. Deadline had hinted that Bupkis would be “intended to represent Davidson’s real-life demeanor with an unashamedly raw, R-rated storytelling” and that it “has been compared to Larry David’s Curb Your Enthusiasm.”

While Joe Pesci plays Davidson’s granddad, Edie Falco also stars as Davidson’s mother. The sitcom will also feature a number of well-known guest stars, including Charlie Day, Brad Garrett, Simon Rex, Ray Romano, Kenan Thompson, and Chase Sui Wonders.

Even though Davidson has not really commented on the program, he has previously played a fictionalized version of himself. He previously acted in the 2020 comedy The King of Staten Island, which received rave reviews.

In the movie, Davidson played Scott, a young guy whose life had stagnated since since his firefighter father passed away. Yet as he is forced to face his loss head-on and start living again, his days of laziness quickly come to an end.

On CBS Sunday Morning, Davidson stated of the movie, “I made a tribute to my mom and dad, and I got to address these things I would been avoiding for a really long time head-on.

Bupkis marks the Meet Cute actor’s big return to television since exiting SNL in May 2022 after eight seasons. Confirming his departure from the NBC sketch series, he posted a message through comedian Dave Sirus’s Instagram account, saying: “When I got the show I was 20 years old and I had no idea what I was doing. I still don’t but especially back then.”

“I wasn’t really a sketch performer I was just a stand up. I knew I could never keep up or go toe to toe with a Kenan Thompson or a Kate McKinnon so I was super scared at figuring out what I could possibly bring to or do for such a historic, respected show and platform,” he said. “I figured since I’m a stand up I’ll just try my stand up and personal bits on Weekend Update as myself and I’m so glad I did.”
