Reflecting on his time in the Afghanistan war, Prince Harry delves into his deployment in the Asian nation during his service with the British Army.

In the latest installment of the Netflix series “Heart of Invictus,” the Duke of Sussex candidly discusses his experiences. He recalls the realization of the war’s toll upon his return to Britain.

Harry’s deployment to Afghanistan was initially shrouded in secrecy, as he explains, “The entire reason I was permitted to go to Afghanistan was because it was kept under wraps. Throughout my ten-week stay there, only the British press knew, and they agreed to maintain silence in exchange for access.”

However, his deployment was cut short due to media leaks about his presence in Afghanistan. Harry recounts his feelings during that time, saying, “Being suddenly on my way back home, I felt anger. Yet, it was crucial for the safety of everyone around me – to eliminate the threat.”

He goes on to describe the profound impact of his journey home on his Afghanistan experience: “My own encounter in Afghanistan was profoundly influenced by that journey back. As we took off, the curtain in front of me unexpectedly blew open, revealing the air hospital. I saw three young British soldiers, shrouded in plastic, their bodies torn apart.”

Prince Harry’s account of his time in Afghanistan offers an intimate glimpse into the emotional and traumatic aspects of his military service.
