Rashid Mehmood, a beloved veteran actor in Pakistan, has graced countless television dramas with his incredible talent, often captivating audiences with his portrayal of complex, negative characters. Known for his eloquence, Rashid has been a cherished figure in the Pakistani TV industry.
Some of his standout dramas include “Shaheen,” “Kajal Ghar,” “Mirza Ghalib,” “Riyasat,” and “Mohabbat Rooth Jaye To.” Despite enduring three heart attacks and partial body paralysis, Rashid continues to reside in Lahore and recently gained widespread admiration for speaking out against the steep electricity bills in Pakistan.
In a recent video shared by Lahore-based YouTuber Moeen Zubair, Rashid Mehmood opens up about his latest electricity bill and urges fellow citizens to stand up for their basic rights.
In his heartfelt message, Rashid quotes poet Saghir Siddiqui, saying, “Our lives are tied to continuous struggle and hard times.” He explains that this sentiment reflects the current state of the nation, where many face difficulties because they have ceased to advocate for their rights. He encourages people to find their voice again. Addressing potential criticism, he clarifies, “Some might say I haven’t paid my bill and am just complaining on social media. But I did pay my bill last time when I protested. Now, I’ve received a bill of 31,000 rupees for 500 units. Yes, I’ll pay it, but we all need to speak up before it’s too late.”
