During a candid chat on actor-host Ahmed Ali Butt’s podcast, veteran musician Shiraz Uppal shared his thoughts on Pakistani actor Hira Mani’s singing talents. When asked about her singing abilities, Uppal hinted that she might use auto-tune in her performances. He complimented her acting skills, saying, “I think she’s a great actor. I could make anyone sound like her in my studio with some auto-tune.”
Uppal, known for his role as both a composer and singer, noted that he had observed Hira Mani going off-key during live performances. “As someone deeply involved in music composition and singing, I base my judgment on what I see in those performances,” he explained. He also questioned the necessity for someone as talented in acting as Hira Mani to delve into singing, asking, “If she’s such a gifted actor, why the need to venture into singing?”
Addressing recent controversies about mentoring singers like Atif Aslam and Aima Baig, Uppal clarified misunderstandings, stating, “I never claimed to have taught them how to sing. They’re both naturally talented singers.” He elaborated, “My role as a music producer and singer involves guiding vocalists on the expression and pronunciation required for my compositions. It’s about enhancing their performance, not teaching them to sing from scratch.”
