Pakistani writer and playwright Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar was reportedly kidnapped and robbed in Lahore, but safely returned home after paying a ransom.
The Punjab Police acted swiftly by apprehending a group of individuals, including Amna Arooj, the primary suspect in the honey trap case. Preliminary investigation shows that Amna Arooj, a resident of Gujranwala, participated in extorting high-profile individuals.
Amna told the police that she had been communicating with Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar for a period of two weeks, sharing photos while talking on the phone. She mentioned that Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar requested a meeting with her, so she extended an invitation to her home in Bahria Town. Upon Qamar’s arrival at the location at midnight, Amna’s associates grabbed the writer and attacked him.
The Lahore police arrested a group of 12 individuals, one of whom was a woman, for their involvement in a honey-trap plan aimed at renowned playwright Khalilur Rehman Qamar.
The team was discovered in possession of advanced weapons, a significant amount of cash, and cell phones. Officials are currently searching for more victims of this criminal organization.
During a press conference, DIG Imran Kishwar explained the situation, stating that Qamar was advised by physicians to stay indoors during the day, prompting him to agree to a meeting late at night.
