Pakistan’s legendary sprinter Abdul Khaliq is set to have his life story told on the big screen in an upcoming biopic titled Abdul Khaliq: The Flying Bird.

Renowned actor Hamza Ali Abbasi will portray the iconic athlete, known for his remarkable achievements and the title “Flying Bird of Asia” bestowed upon him by Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru at the 1956 Delhi Indo-Pak Meet. The film will explore Khaliq’s journey from his beginnings in the Artillery Regiment to becoming a prominent figure in global athletics.

The high-budget project is produced by Jamil Baig, the owner of the Nueplex cinemas chain, promising a grand portrayal of Khaliq’s legacy. While there is no official release date yet, the film is speculated to hit screens sometime in 2025.

Hamza Ali Abbasi, a prominent name in Pakistan’s entertainment industry, has generated significant buzz with his casting in this biopic. On the personal front, Abbasi married actress Naimal Khawar Khan in a private ceremony in 2019. The announcement of his role in this film adds to the excitement surrounding both his career and the upcoming biopic.
