‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’ to finally hit Indian theatres on October 2
The Legend of Maula Jatt is scheduled to be released in India....
Indian political parties are once again opposing the much-awaited release of the popular Pakistani film “The Legend of Maula Jatt” in India on October 2.
The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), an extremist Indian party, has said that it will not allow the movie to be released in Indian theatres.
“We will not allow the release of Pakistani films, nor will we allow their artists to work in Indian films,” producer and president of MNS’ cinema wing Ameya Khopkar stated to the publication.
“There are plans to release Pakistani actor Fawad Khan’s Pakistani film The Legend of Maula Jatt in India. It is most infuriating that an Indian company is leading this plan,” Khopkar posted on X (previously Twitter) in 2022, the year the film was originally intended for release in the country.
Khopkar revealed that the MNS Chairperson Raj Thackeray had given the order to prevent the movie’s release anywhere in India.
The politician-producer, who has worked on movies including Lai Bhaari, Ye Re Ye Re Paisa, and Bhonga, called Fawad’s Indian followers “traitors” in a subsequent tweet and advised them to watch the movie in Pakistan.
