Mawra Hocane’s movie ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ to get a sequel?
The makers of the 2016 Bollywood film Sanam Teri Kasam, featuring Harshvardhan Rane and Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane, are reportedly developing a sequel.
The film, tentatively titled “Jaanam Teri Kasam”, will be helmed by the original directors, Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, but will feature a completely new cast.
“The makers want to make a sequel to ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’. However, it is at a very nascent stage currently. They have only started the casting process of the film, so it is still in pre-production,” according to the source.
The sequel will reportedly be titled “Jaanam Teri Kasam” and will have new leads instead of Rane and Hocane.
The sequel will introduce new lead actors, as Rane and Hocane will not reprise their roles. The production team is seeking a female lead with both singing talent and a captivating screen presence for the musical film.
In response to fans’ calls for a sequel, Harshvardhan Rane previously expressed frustration over the film’s lackluster box office performance, “The audiences keep asking ‘when will part 2 of ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ come ?’. All I could tell them was that, because they didn’t buy the tickets and watch the film in theatres, that’s why part 2 never got made. I have written this in the flyers too, which I distributed during ‘Dange’ promotion. Only when the audiences watch our films in theatres are we encouraged to make films,” he said.
Although Sanam Teri Kasam did not achieve commercial success, it earned positive reviews for Hocane’s performance and dance. The sequel aims to capture similar attention with fresh talent and a new storyline.
