On October 16, the former member of One Direction, Liam Payne, tragically died at the age of 31, after falling from the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Police confirmed his death, stating that he fell multiple stories into the hotel’s internal courtyard. An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident, and an autopsy will be conducted.

The head of public emergency services in Buenos Aires, Alberto Crescenti, stated that there was “no possibility of resuscitation” due to the severity of the injuries. Payne is survived by his 7-year-old son, Bear Grey, with ex-partner Cheryl Cole.

After becoming well-known on The X Factor in 2010, Payne joined Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson to form One Direction. The group rose to prominence as one of the most popular boy bands, releasing hits such as “Steal My Girl” and “Midnight Memories.”

In his private life, Payne was candid about his battles with alcoholism and the effects they had on his mental well-being. In an interview from 2019, he stated, “There have been a lot of people in trouble with mental health that are not really getting the help that they need.”
