Karan Johar expresses fear about challenging questions his kids may ask in future
Filmmaker Karan Johar has shared insights into his unique “Modern Family” dynamics, expressing concerns about his children, Yash and Roohi, and the challenging questions they may pose in the future.
This discussion arose during his appearance on the latest season of Fabulous Lives vs Bollywood Wives, a Netflix reality show. In one episode, actress Neelam Kothari reflected on her divorce from Rishi Sethia and her adopted daughter with her second husband, Samir Soni.
Karan responded to her heartfelt remarks, saying, “That really moved me because I remember those days so clearly. I really teared up, I was actually connecting to it on an emotional level. You spoke about your daughter and that’s also something that struck a chord with me. My constant fear is that I also have to deal with those questions from my own children about my circumstances and that I have a modern family situation.”
As a single parent to twins Yash and Roohi, born via surrogacy in 2017, Karan acknowledges the complexities of his situation. He mentioned, “They will find out things, and I will have to be answerable. Being a single parent, I know I am answerable to my children about so many aspects.” Reflecting on his sexual orientation, he previously stated in a 2020 interview with India Today, “Everybody knows what my sexual orientation is. I don’t need to scream it out.”
Recently, Karan made a comeback to directing with the hit film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani and has produced several projects through his Dharma Productions, despite facing some box office setbacks. He also sold a 50% stake in Dharma to businessman Adar Poonawalla for ₹1000 crore amid rumors of financial difficulties.
