US woman sues Netflix for portraying her villain in ‘The Manhattan Alien Abduction’
A U.S. woman who claims she was abducted by aliens has sued Netflix, arguing that the documentary “The Manhattan Alien Abduction” portrays her as a villain for dramatic effect.
Linda Napolitano, now 77, first made headlines in 1989 when she alleged that she was taken by aliens from her 12th-floor apartment in Lower Manhattan.
In her claim, Napolitano said, “They take me up, all the way up. [The spaceship] opens almost like a clam and then I’m inside. I’m gonna shut my eyes. I don’t wanna see.” She described being examined by alien creatures and feeling like a lab rat. This story was later detailed in a book by UFO researcher Budd Hopkins.
Years later, she claimed that aliens targeted her family, causing them to suffer from “nosebleeds.” Her son, Johnny, who appeared in the documentary with his identity hidden, said, “It’s got to be the most terrifying and hopeless thing that I’ve ever felt.”
The documentary includes commentary from Carol Rainey, Hopkins’s widow, who questions Napolitano’s account. Napolitano alleges that Rainey is presented as an “expert” when she is really “an embittered, alcoholic ex-wife hell bent on revenge.” She believes the docuseries will ruin her reputation as “an honest and decent person.”
