Sarah Michelle Gellar has shared her perspective on Hollywood’s short marriages, offering insights into her own 22-year relationship with Freddie Prinze Jr.

Speaking to Fox News Digital, the 47-year-old actress revealed the secret to their lasting marriage, saying, “I think everything takes work, whether it’s a friendship or a work relationship or a marriage.” She emphasized the importance of effort, adding, “You have to put the work in.”

Gellar also voiced her criticism of peers who don’t prioritize their relationships, stating, “We live in an extremely disposable society now.” She further pointed out the throwaway attitude in society, mentioning, “People even throw away their phones when they break instead of fixing them,” noting that this mentality extends to relationships as well.

Sarah and Freddie first met on the set of I Know What You Did Last Summer in 1997. They began dating in 2000, got engaged in 2001, and married in Mexico the following year.

In the interview, Gellar also reflected on the celebrity culture of today, commenting, “The advent of social media and everybody having a camera phone” has changed how celebrities experience their public lives. She noted, “It’s hard to keep things spoiler-free. It moves shows more indoors when you have to keep secrets.”
