Timothée Chalamet and Elle Fanning brought humor and nostalgia to a recent interview when they hilariously recreated Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo’s iconic “finger-holding” moment. The pair, promoting their roles in A Complete Unknown, a Bob Dylan biopic, couldn’t resist referencing the now-famous exchange during their chat with interviewer Tracy E. Gilchrist.

Gilchrist, who had previously spoken with Grande and Erivo for their work on Wicked, jokingly began the conversation with Chalamet and Fanning by saying, “First I just want to let you know that I am holding space for you,” a nod to her viral interaction with the Wicked stars.

The actors immediately recognized her and were delighted. “It’s an honor talking to you. I feel sort of starstruck,” Chalamet exclaimed. Fanning added, “You walked in, and I was like, ‘Tracy!’ There’s nothing that we can do that can trump what happened.”

Embracing the moment, the duo recreated the viral “finger-holding” meme, sparking uncontrollable laughter among all three.

Reflecting on the encounter, Gilchrist told Out, “This viral moment has been the wildest ride of my life, filled with so much laughter and joy.” She described the meeting as surreal, sharing that Chalamet was “in disbelief” speaking with her, while she felt equally amazed by him and Fanning.
