Vivek Oberoi shares why he turned down role in ‘Om Shanti Om’
Vivek Oberoi, known for his diverse roles in Bollywood, recently shared insights into some of his career choices and personal beliefs.
In a candid interview with MensXP, the actor revealed that he had turned down major films like Munna Bhai MBBS, Hum Tum, and Om Shanti Om, instead choosing to work on Shootout at Lokhandwala.
Oberoi explained that the dates for both Shootout at Lokhandwala and Om Shanti Om clashed, and though both roles were negative, he felt a strong connection with his gangster character in the former. “I had already done 4-5 months of prep for the role, meeting cops and reading crime files,” he shared. Switching roles mid-preparation would have been a challenge.
While he acknowledged that working with Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone on Om Shanti Om would have been incredible, he stood by his decision, emphasizing the importance of research and character immersion. On the personal front, Vivek discussed his views on love and marriage, expressing his firm belief in exclusivity: “Either you are exclusive, or you are nothing,” he said, dismissing the concept of an open marriage.
With a busy year ahead, Vivek will be seen in Masti 4, alongside Aftab Shivdasani and Riteish Deshmukh, promising fans another entertaining chapter in his career.
