Netflix responds to Leonardo DiCaprio’s appearance rumors in Squid Game Season 3
Amid rumors that Leonardo DiCaprio would appear in Squid Game Season 3, Netflix has categorically denied the claims. Earlier reports suggested that DiCaprio had completed a surprise appearance for the show, with filming allegedly conducted under secrecy in 2024. However, Netflix dismissed the speculation, calling the reports “completely false.”
A Netflix representative clarified, “The rumors are completely false. Reports of Leonardo DiCaprio’s involvement in Squid Game Season 3 are entirely unfounded.”
While quashing the rumors, Netflix brought exciting news for fans by announcing that Squid Game 3 is set to premiere in 2025. The announcement followed the record-breaking success of Season 2, which garnered 68 million views in its first week, making it Netflix’s most-watched opening week ever.
To further build anticipation, Netflix unveiled a teaser poster for Season 3 featuring Young Hee, the iconic robot from the “Red Light, Green Light” game, alongside a new character, Cheol Su, introduced in the Season 2 post-credits scene.
Squid Game, created by Hwang Dong-hyuk, first premiered in 2021 and became a global phenomenon. Reflecting on the show’s success, Dong-hyuk shared, “I never in my wildest dream thought it was going to be this huge,” explaining that the concept began as a two-hour film 15 years ago before evolving into a Netflix series.
