Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan is recovering in Lilavati Hospital after suffering multiple stab wounds during a shocking home invasion. The attack occurred early Thursday morning at his Bandra residence, where the actor was injured while attempting to intervene in a confrontation between an intruder and his domestic help.
Mumbai Police have intensified their investigation and suspect that the house help might have known the attacker. A police source told Indian Express, “We suspect the help must have allowed him entry, and due to some reason, a fight took place. She is being interrogated by the local police to get more details about the accused. Seven local police teams are working to track him down.” Reports also indicate the accused was locked in a room but managed to escape.
The attack happened at approximately 2:30 am, with Saif being alerted by the altercation. According to a Mumbai Police source quoted by ANI, “When the actor tried to intervene and pacify the man, he attacked Saif Ali Khan and injured him.”
Saif’s elder son, Ibrahim Ali Khan, rushed him to Lilavati Hospital at around 3:30 am. Lilavati Hospital COO Dr. Niraj Uttamani stated that Saif has undergone surgery and is under observation in the ICU for a day.
In a statement issued later, Saif’s team assured, “Saif Ali Khan has come out of surgery and is out of danger. He is currently in recovery, and the doctors are monitoring his progress. All family members are safe, and the police are investigating the incident.”
Investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend the intruder.
