Anushka Sharma cuts cake on completing Chakda Xpress’s shoot
The filming for Anushka Sharma‘s upcoming film Chakda ‘Xpress is complete. In the Netflix movie, which is produced by Anushka Sharma’s brother Karnesh Sharma’s production company, Clean Slate Filmz, and is directed by Prosit Roy, she will play cricketer Jhulan Goswami. Jhulan, Karnesh, and Prosit joined Anushka in celebrating the completion of the shoot. The movie is anticipated to debut on Netflix the following year.
Taking to Instagram, Anushka wrote, “It’s a wrap on Chakda ‘Xpress and thank you @JhulanGoswami for the final clap to bring an end to the shoot! (blue heart, clapboard and cricket bat emojis).” The actor posted a number of images from the final day of filming, which took place inside a cricket stadium. Jhulan, Prosit, and Anushka are seen cutting a specially made cake in the first image. The cake reveals the film’s title and Jhulan’s jersey number 25, as well as the fact that it was shot over the course of 65 days in seven schedules and six different cities.

Another image shows Anushka hugging director Prosit while the cast and crew applaud. Jhulan is holding the film’s final clapboard, which reads, “It’s a wrap.” Jhulan is also seen placing the same board over Anushka as she reclines in a van, with the words “day 65” written on it. Anushka, who is also holding the clapboard, joins Prosit and Karnesh in a lighthearted exchange.
Fans congratulated the actor on the news and expressed excitement about seeing her in movies once more. Can’t wait to see you on screen soon (red heart emojis),” one fan wrote. Another person remarked, “Same smile as Jhulan,” in reference to Anushka’s photos.
Anushka explained why the biopic on the Indian bowler was unique when it was first announced earlier this year. In a statement, she had stated: “It will be an eye-opener into the world of women’s cricket. At a time when Jhulan decided to become a cricketer and make her country proud on the global stage, it was very tough for women to even think of playing the sport. This film is a dramatic retelling of several instances that shaped her life and also women’s cricket.”
Anushka last appeared in Zero (2018) by Aanand L Rai, which also starred Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif. She also produced the 2020 Netflix movie Bulbbul during the previous four years, and most recently, she appeared in Anvita Dutt’s Qala, another Karnesh production. Virat Kohli, a cricketer, is her husband. Vamika Kohli, their daughter, will turn two in January 2023.
