KARACHI: Pakistani actress Hania Aamir has been appointed as the new Goodwill Ambassador by UN Women Asia and Pacific Regional Director Christine Arab to promote safe and inclusive digital and financial environments for women and girls in Pakistan.
Christine Arab welcomed Hania Aamir and invited her to participate actively in this important mission.
Speaking at the event, Hania emphasized the need to redefine online behavior and challenge harmful social norms so that women and girls can learn, express themselves, and work freely without fear.
She further stated that empowerment truly begins when women’s safety is ensured, both online and offline.
This appointment marks a new chapter in promoting women’s rights and safety, with Hania Amir expected to play a pivotal role.
Previously, she had also been appointed UN Women Pakistan’s National Goodwill Ambassador for advancing women’s rights, gender equality, and empowerment initiatives.
Earlier,Hania Aamir is one of Pakistan’s most popular and talented television and film actors. She started her career with the feature film Janaan in 2016 and went on to star in hit projects like Na Maloom Afraad 2, dramas such as Dilruba, Titli, Mujhe Jeene Do, Mere Humsafar, Ishqiya, Sang e Mah, and Mujhe Pyar Hua Tha.
Recently, she received huge praise for her brilliant performance in Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum. With 18.8 million followers, she is also the most-followed Pakistani celebrity on Instagram.
This year marks Hania’s 9th year in the entertainment industry. To celebrate the milestone, she shared a heartfelt video on Instagram, reflecting on her journey.
She said she entered the industry nine years ago without any idea of what to expect. She didn’t know about lights, cameras, or what it meant to be watched by millions.
She described herself back then as just a young girl having fun, learning from mistakes, and figuring out life.
