Harrison Ford, a seasoned American actor, is the newest celebrity to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He will take up William Hurt’s role as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross in Anthony Mackie’s Captain America: New World Order.
However, it does not look that Ford will star in “Thunderbolts,” Marvel’s anti-hero team-up movie that is slated to come out right after “Captain America 4,” according to Variety.
According to Variety, Julius Onah’s upcoming fourth “Captain America” movie will depict what happens after “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” trilogy.
Hurt originally appeared as Ross in Marvel Studios’ second feature picture, 2008’s “The Incredible Hulk,” as a US Army general who plays a key role in changing scientist Bruce Banner (at the time, played by Edward Norton) into the Hulk. Ross then spends the remainder of the film searching for Banner.
In 2016’s “Captain America: Civil War,” the character returned as the Secretary of State, charged with upholding the Sokovia Accords designed to restrain the Avengers’ operations.
Hurt’s final appearance as Ross was in 2021’s “Black Widow,” following brief cameos in “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame.”
Although this is Ford’s first MCU movie, it is by no means his only appearance in a franchise. The 80-year-old actor previously played the lead roles in the films “Star Wars,” “Indiana Jones,” and “Jack Ryan.”
