After being temporarily barred from Balthazar for one week, James Corden expressed regret for the “rude comment” he made there.

The talk show host addressed the situation on Monday night, despite his initial desire to “assume a British mindset” and “never complain, never explain.”

“I’ve been walking around believing that I hadn’t done anything wrong because I didn’t shout or scream—like I didn’t get up out of my seat, I didn’t call anyone names, or use disparaging language, right?” 44-year-old Corden told his audience. But the reality is that I have.

“I made a rude comment,” the “Late Late Show with James Corden” host continued. “And it was wrong. It was an unnecessary comment. It was ungracious to the server.”

He continued by recalling the incident with his wife, Julia Carey, and said that the 46-year-old producer had been given food allergies three times.

“I made a caustic, crude remark about preparing it myself in the heat of the moment. And it’s a phrase I sincerely regret,” Corden said, recalling that he had formerly done “years” of restaurant shifts.

The comic claimed he “appreciates” and has “respect” for servers, particularly those who work at Balthazar.

I just adore it there, Corden said. “I adore the menu, atmosphere, and service. If I were a resident of New York, I would go there every day, provided they would let me in.

The justification appeared a week after Balthazar owner Keith McNally disparaged the actor in a vicious Instagram post as his “most aggressive” client.

The 71-year-old restaurateur later revealed to his followers that Corden had “expressed his regret excessively” over the phone, saying, “Having f-ked up more than most people, I fully believe in second chances.”

However, McNally demanded on Instagram the following day that “lying” Corden “come clean” after the Tony winner claimed in the New York Times on Thursday that the issue was “beneath” him.
