Kris Wu sentenced to jail for 13 years amid rape charges

Kris Wu was sentenced to 11 years and 6 months in prison for raping three women at his home in 2020 “while they were drunk and did not know or were not able to resist,” the Chaoyang District Court of Beijing announced on Friday, November 25.

According to the court, the 32-year-old pop diva was also given a one year and ten month sentence for “gathering persons to commit adultery.”

According to sources, the victim first encountered Mr. Wu when she was 17 years old, and the first person to accuse him was a student by the name of Du Meizhu who shared a message on social media a year ago.

According to Du’s confessions, she was invited to a party at Wu’s house, where she was made to consume wine and awoke the next morning in his bed.

In spite of Kris Wu’s initial denials, at least 24 more victims have come forward to accuse him of acting predatorily. He was accused of luring ladies to karaoke events where alcohol was consumed.

According to local news, the musician also had to pay a 600 million yuan (£69 million) tax evasion penalties because he allegedly lied about his worldwide revenue by using a fictional company.

Kris Wu was born in China but holds Canadian citizenship, for the uninitiated. After joining the K-pop boyband EXO in the 2010s, he rose to fame.

After building a successful solo career as a singer, actor, model, and variety show judge, he was regarded as one of China’s biggest celebrities.

However, in light of this current twist in Mr. Wu’s case, other businesses, including Porsche, Bulgari, L’Oreal Men, and Louis Vuitton, have halted their collaborations with him.
