Céline Dion is diagnosed with a rare neurological
Céline Dion has made her health a priority. The famous singer, 54, revealed that she has the stiff-person syndrome, a “quite unusual” neurological condition that can result in muscle spasms, in a video message to her followers on December 8. As you know, I’ve always been transparent, Dion said in the introduction to her Instagram video. “Before, I wasn’t prepared to speak, but now I am. I’ve had health issues for a very long time, and it’s been incredibly hard for me to face these difficulties and to open up about what I’ve gone through.”
The singer of “My Heart Will Go On” continued by saying that although she and her team are still studying this disease, she now understands that it is what has been causing the spasms she has been experiencing.
“Unfortunately, the spasms affect every aspect of my daily life,” she continued. “Sometimes causing difficulties when I walk and not allowing me to use my vocal chords to sing the way I’m used to. It hurts me to tell you today, this means, that I won’t be ready to restart my tour in Europe in February.”
“I have a great team of doctors working alongside me to help me get better,” Dion said, adding that her kids René-Charles, 21, and 12-year-old twins Eddy and Nelson—who she shares with late husband René Angélil—are supporting her and giving her hope. “I’m working hard with my sports medicine therapist every day to build back my strength and my ability to perform again. But I have to admit, it’s been a struggle.”
Dion continued by saying that singing is all she has ever known and done. She added, “And it’s what I love to do the most.” “I really miss you.”
While Dion always gives it her best when she performs, she acknowledged that she is currently unable to do so due to her health.

Dion is currently on her health and working to get stronger every day. She continued, “And I have optimism that I am on the road to recovery.”
After postponing her European tour dates in April due to health issues, Dion announced in April that she would have to reschedule her shows for the Courage World Tour. Months later, she received a health diagnosis.
“It’s very frustrating for me,” she said at the time. “You know, I’m getting treatment from my doctors, taking medication, but I’m still experiencing some spasm and it’s taking a lot longer for me to recover than I had hoped. I need to be in top shape when I’m on stage. I honestly can’t wait, but I’m just not there yet.”
