Evan Peters in an interview with Variety, the 35-year-old first-time Golden Globe nominee discussed the internal conflict he experienced when playing serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer in Ryan Murphy’s Netflix series Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.

Peters said “It was really difficult. I was giving it a lot of thought and trying to process it. I was quite back and forth, “Peters clarified, pointing out that it was finally Murphy, 57, who had earned his trust and persuaded him to tackle such a difficult subject.

Peters said to Murphy, “I knew you’re a great support system and I trust you and there’s an honesty there. “I was confident that you would put in place a robust safety net because I wanted to finish this as strong as I had begun. I could get back up if I fell, and we could finish this. I could handle the challenge.”

The first season of American Horror Story, which debuted on FX in 2011, was Peters and Murphy’s first collaboration. He also made an appearance in Murphy’s Pose’s inaugural season, which aired in 2018.

In addition to the psychological strain Peters experienced while portraying Dahmer, he underwent a drastic physical makeover for the part, beginning with a no-carb, no-sugar diet to lose 15 pounds.

He confessed, “I really didn’t have an appetite during the early weeks of shooting.” Then I was working out for episode three, where Dahmer starts working out and puts on about 20 pounds at the very end to depict how he looked then.

Peters recently received his first Golden Globe nomination for best actor in a limited series, anthology series, or television motion picture for his work, but the actor expressed a desire for more comedic parts in the future.

“I’m going to venture into the light and take a brief break from doing darker roles. In order to examine the specifics of those kinds of experiences, I think it would be interesting to play something more relatable and commonplace “Peters remarked.
