Frank Grillo is adding gasoline to the flames after The Purge franchise creator James DeMonaco revealed a sixth Purge movie to Daily Dead last year. According to the source, Grillo discussed the impending sixth movie in an interview with Empire Magazine. Grillo played Leo Barnes in The Purge: Anarchy and The Purge: Election Year. The interview will appear in the February 2023 issue of Empire Magazine.

DeMonaco stated in an interview, “I offered it to my producers, Sébastien and Jason. Universal enjoyed it as well, so I believe I will write the next one and, if the audience requests it, we will release it. They both really liked it. I usually say that the movie gods will tell us to move forward if they want us to. It will be five years after this movie, but I believe I have come up with a fresh approach to turn everything upside down. It takes America in an entirely different direction, and I think it would be a very interesting area to explore. It also brings back a prior movie character, which is entertaining.

According to Grillo’s most recent statements, the movie will be made since the “cinema gods” have spoken. Grillo is well-known for playing Brock Rumlow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in addition to The Purge trilogy. Additionally, he has acted in James DeMonaco’s This is the Night, The Grey, and Warrior. Grillo said on the most recent sequel:

“[I’ve] got one more [Purge movie] left. James [DeMonaco] has the script. It focuses on the Leo Barnes character, and he wants to direct it. We’re working with Universal to see if we can pull this off before I’m in the old folks’ home.”

The Forever Purge, which comes out in 2021, was first advertised as the series’ last installment, but it appears that DeMonaco has always had a sixth Purge movie in mind. DeMonaco launched the well-liked franchise in 2013 with the action-horror film The Purge, starring Ethan Hawke. In comparison to its $3 million budget, the first movie made almost $89 million worldwide. The first two sequels of the movie were written and directed by DeMonaco, while Gerard McMurray and Everardo Valerio Gout handled the directing duties for The First Purge and The Forever Purge, respectively. For the USA Network in 2018, DeMonaco also created the two-season television series The Purge, which was based on the movie franchise.
