Halloween Ends was one of the most contentious movies to come out of this genre in 2022. Since Star Wars: The Last Jedi, this Michael Myers and Laurie Strode epic conclusion received the broadest spectrum of reviews. The dust has finally settled on Michael’s funeral after a few months, and this week, Halloween Ends will be released on Blu-ray. Universal has released a new behind-the-scenes look at the movie in advance of its premiere, spotlighting Jamie Lee Curtis’ legacy as Laurie Strode.

Exclusive to Entertainment Weekly, the video features an emotional Curtis narrating her final days as Laurie Strode. Particularly, she realized how tough it would be to part ways with the wonderful team she collaborated with on Halloween (2018), Halloween Kills, and Halloween Ends.

Watching this video alone gives you a clear understanding of how much she values this franchise and its followers. She’s obviously fighting back tears as she thinks of her famous persona. Any fan of the Halloween series will smile when they see her hug her co-star Andi Matichak, the director David Gordon Green, and the producer Melek Akkad. No matter what you think of the movie as a whole, the scene when Akkad is winding up Curtis’ final day of production is, to put it mildly, extremely bittersweet.

Even though the ending may not have been what many fans had hoped for, what we did get was a rather powerful examination of how evil is an infection that spreads like an unstoppable virus. You either loved or despised the introduction of Rohan Campbell’s Corey because the plot takes some major chances with how Michael was employed.

Nevertheless, Corey turned out to be a warped, “evil” mirror of what Laurie might have become as a result of the events of Halloween night 1978. That provided Curtis with some intriguing and novel material to work with in contrast to what we typically see from this genre. However, the movie ultimately delivers what every horror fan came for when you witness Michael and Laurie’s final confrontation, which is set to John Carpenter’s sublime score.

The actual end of an era was marked by Halloween Ends. The character Laurie finally received the closure she deserved when Curtis’ portrayal of her came to an official conclusion in the waning seconds of the movie. Few actors get the opportunity to give a role they have played for more than 40 years their unmistakable last imprint. John Carpenter’s Halloween served as the catalyst for Curtis’s film career. The best gift this movie could give to fans of the saga was to give Curtis the opportunity to find Laurie peace and happiness. Curtis took full advantage of the occasion and excelled.

On Tuesday, December 27, Halloween Ends will be available on 4K Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and DVD, but before then, EW has posted a behind-the-scenes look at Curtis’ moving farewell.
