James Bond’s inaccurate casting rumors do not affect Daniel Craig. At a screening of Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery and a special Happy Sad Confused podcast recording on Monday at the 92nd Street Y in New York City, Craig, 54, said that he isn’t taking wagers on who will portray 007.

“I don’t really pay any attention,” Craig, who played Bond in five films between 2006 and 2021, said during the conversation with host Josh Horowitz. “I just… I don’t go on the internet, I don’t have social media.”

Craig acknowledged that “it’s what it is” with regards to the future of the Bond franchise as it carries on without him after Horowitz and he quipped that the former Bond actor is actually “huge on TikTok.”

When asked if he would appreciate seeing a fresh actor take on the part, the actor responded, “I’ll be front and center [at the theatre].”

When Craig was chosen to play the renowned British spy in the 2006 sequel Casino Royale, he also addressed his own inner conflict. Horowitz questioned the actor about the “pros and cons” of accepting the role, and Craig responded that both sides of the list influenced his choice.

“It was on the pro list: it would change my life. It was on the con list: it would change my life,” he told an audience Monday. “And that really is something that — I knew that I had a certain level of anonymity, I could still kind of go out, I could still travel and go to an airport. I could do all these things… I knew that would sort of disappear.”

“But it was also on the pro list, and it worked for the best, I mean, that’s the thing,” Craig added. “I just couldn’t…. I went, to my closest friends, that’s who I went to for advice, and that’s what I did. And they were just like, ‘You’ve got to do this, you’ll regret this if you don’t do this.’ And I did, so here we are.”

Craig is not the only previous 007 actor who has shown little interest in the possibility of someone else taking the role. Pierce Brosnan said to GQ in September that he doesn’t care who gets the next desired role.

“Who shall execute it? I don’t care “said he. “It will be intriguing to watch who they choose as the man. I hope he does well, whatever he is.”

In addition, Brosnan lauded Craig for playing James Bond, particularly in the 2012 film Skyfall. He said, “I saw the last one and I saw Skyfall.” “I cherish Skyfall. With regard to the final one, I’m not sure.” (No Time to Die, the previous year, served as Craig’s last Bond film.)

Netflix will start streaming Daniel Craig’s newest film, Glass Onion: A Knives out Mystery, on December 23.
