In an interview published on Monday by The Hollywood Reporter, the Pirates of the Caribbean producer expressed support for Depp, 59, saying he’d “love” to see the actor return to the series as the legendary Captain Jack Sparrow.

He continued, alluding to the “ensemble” Pirates movie he had before mentioned, “I’m sure she was sad it didn’t go first — or maybe not because she’s so busy, so it might be a blessing to push this a bit.”

Regarding Robbie’s project, Bruckheimer stated, “We’re confident we can make it. It’s a compelling tale.”
