Ronnie Turner passed away
Ronnie Turner has passed away. The iconic singer Tina Turner and the late Ike Turner’s youngest son, Ronnie Turner, passed away at the age of 62. Afida Turner, Ronnie’s wife, acknowledged his demise in a heartfelt tweet and referred to him as “a true angel.”
“I did the best to the end this time I was no[t] able to save you,” she wrote alongside a Dec. 9 Instagram post of the pair with his mom Tina. “Love you for… 17 years this is very very very bad and I am very mad,” she wrote in the caption of the post. “This is a tragedy u with your brother Craig and your father Ike Turner and Aline rest in paradise… So unfair.”
Tina posted a tribute to her son on Instagram shortly after. She posted a photo of herself with her eyes closed, “Ronnie, you departed the world way too early.” “I close my eyes in grief and remember you, my precious son.”
Ronnie began acting despite the fact that his parents were well-known artists, making a cameo appearance in the 1993 movie What’s Love Got to do with It (the autobiographical film based on the life of his mom and the tumultuous relationship with her husband, Ike).
Ronnie passed away just four years after Craig, Tina’s oldest son (whose father was the late saxophonist Raymond Hill), committed suicide in July 2018 at the age of 59.
“My saddest moment as a mother,” Tina tweeted alongside a photo of her holding a rose over the ocean. “On Thursday, July 19, 2018, I said my final goodbye to my son, Craig Raymond Turner, when I gathered with family and friends to scatter his ashes off the coast of California. He was fifty-nine when he died so tragically, but he will always be my baby.”
The Grammy winner also adopted Ike Jr., 64, and Michael, 63, two of Ike’s children, in addition to Craig and Ronnie.
The singer Tina, who has been married to Erwin Bach since 1995 and lives in Switzerland, reminisced on her early parenthood in the 2021 HBO Max documentary. She admitted that after her divorce from Ike in 1978 was formalized, she “didn’t spend a lot of time” with her sons.
“I suffered but Ike didn’t,” she said, per an excerpt published by Fox News. “It was my pain because I wanted more time.”
