  • At the Emancipation movie debut, Will Smith was accompanied by his loved ones.
  • Will, 54, made an appearance with his complete family on the red carpet on Wednesday at the Regency Village Theatre in Los Angeles. His first film to be released since the March Oscars incident.
  • The family wore synchronised looks in tones of the season. Like his son Trey, Will wore a burgundy tuxedo with a pale pink undershirt. The 30-year-old, whom Will lives with his ex-wife Sheree Zampino, wore a lavender t-shirt and a dark purple sports coat.

Jaden, 24, wore a tuxedo with black-and-white photo prints to match his sister Willow and mother Jada Pinkett Smith.

Will’s wife, 51, wore a big white turtleneck dress and jewellery to match. Willow, their 22-year-old daughter, wore a black dress with silver accents that exposed her skin.

It was Will’s most recent public outing in support of his next movie, which will have a limited release in cinemas on December 2 and go live on Apple TV+ on December 9.

In an interview with presenter Trevor Noah on The Daily Show on Monday, he stated he “just lost it” while discussing the time he hit Chris Rock for making a joke about his wife at the 94th Academy Awards.

He stated in the interview, “There’s many intricacies and complexities to it, you know, but at the end of the day, I just — I lost it. You just never know what someone is going through, I suppose I should say.

He continued, “You just don’t know what’s going on with folks. And I was going through something that night,” he adds, highlighting the fact that this does not excuse his actions.

In light of the Oscars event, the actor stated on a recent press tour that he will “totally respect” moviegoers who are “not ready” to see the new picture. He also voiced worry that his behaviour at the Oscars may have a detrimental effect on the movie.

He stated in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that the “only discomfort my heart feels about” the incident’s ongoing consequences is “that so many people have done great work on” the new movie.

The actor admitted, “I probably lose a few winks of sleep every night knowing that I may have perhaps penalised my squad.” But I’ll exert every effort to ensure that everyone receives the respect they merit.

Will plays the lead role of Peter in the historical drama Emancipation. During the course of his escape from slavery, Peter must rely on “his wits, unshakeable faith, and deep love for his family” as he avoids slave traders and travels through Louisiana in search of freedom.

According to the synopsis, “the 1863 photographs of ‘Whipped Peter,’ obtained during a Union Army medical examination,’ served as the inspiration for the future film.

Ben Foster, Charmaine Bingwa, Gilbert Owuor, Mustafa Shakir, Steven Ogg, Grant Harvey, Ronnie Gene Bivens, Jayson Warner Smith, Jabbar Lewis, Michael Luwoye, Aaron Moten, and Imani Pullum are also featured in Emancipation in addition to Will.
