Ginny & Georgia: Brianne Howey responds to the deadly decision in season 2 finale

In Ginny & Georgia, Brianne Howey, who portrays the film’s titular single mother, agrees. Brianne believed that Georgia’s choice to end the life of Cynthia’s dying husband was really a sign of her devotion to her Wellsbury foe.

“What Cynthia did for her by rescinding Gil’s application was the biggest act of protection,” she exclusively told the news. “And that’s the one thing Georgia has never had in her life. No one has ever protected her, since she was a child.”

For those who haven’t binge-watched season two yet, Cynthia (Sabrina Grdevich) watches Georgia’s ex-boyfriend Gil (Aaron Ashmore) being abusive and blacklists him from the neighborhood as a result, making it difficult for the formerly incarcerated man to get housing in the region.

“Cynthia doing that was an enormous act of kindness and generosity and protection,” Brianne continued. “And in Georgia’s mind, Cynthia protected her and now she wants to protect Cynthia and [her son] Zach from the pain and the grief that they are suffering very, very slowly through and that’s being dragged out. So she takes it upon herself to take that away from them.”

Although Georgia had noble intentions when she decided to put the unconscious Tom to death—her body count also includes two unpleasant ex-husbands—she finally paid the price for this choice when she was detained at her wedding reception in the final moments of season two. Brianne is sympathetic to Georgia’s situation despite the fact that her character has overcome hardships including poverty, custody disputes, and physical and sexual assault.

“I wouldn’t wish Georgia’s life and upbringing on anybody,” she noted. “And unfortunately, Georgia hasn’t had the tools to deal with all of this generational trauma and grief that she’s inherited, experienced, and also passed on.”

Brianne “couldn’t stop crying” when she first saw the conclusion of season two, which makes sense.

She told the news that “it’s sheer astonishment.” “Georgia laments in her voiceover that she is too terrified to put her faith in happiness. And then the second shoe drops after she finally starts to trust happiness a little. And seeing Austin (Diesel La Torraca, [her son] sprint after the vehicle. I started crying.”
