Jen Shah opened up about her fears for her husband Sharrieff and son Omar
Jen Shah’s primary concern is for her family. On the Jan. 4 episode of the popular Bravo series, the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City actress broke down in tears as she worried about how the wire fraud and money laundering allegations against her are affecting her husband Sharrieff Shah, and son Omar, 16.
In a virtual session with her therapist that was recorded before she altered her plea from innocent to guilty in July 2022, Jen acknowledged feeling anxious about her upcoming federal trial.
“I feel like I’m not in control,” Jen, who will be sentenced on Jan. 6 and faces a maximum of 30 years in prison, shared. “I’m at an even deeper and darker place and I’m dealing with another level of depression—daily anxiety—that is paralyzing.”
Jen’s therapist advised her to start putting support systems in place within her family in case her case leads to prison time because Jen’s future was uncertain.
“I’m worried as a mom, like, have I done something where it’s affected, Omar?” Jen admitted. “Basically, did I f–k my kids up?”
“I get worried that he’s going through so much as a high school student,” she continued, “and no kid should have to go through this.”
Jen elaborated in a confessional about how her adolescent son has helped her through the legal process.
“Omar is like a mini coach Shah at home and he has had to be so strong for me,” she shared, “but I don’t want to put my family through this. They don’t deserve this.”
Jen acknowledged that she felt “a lot of remorse” over the incident, but Sharrieff also told her how much of a toll the fraud case had had on him.
Jen recollected, “He says, “I cry while sitting in the car in the parking lot because I’m anxious. This is a lot to ask of anyone: “I don’t want you to go.”
She said in the session, “I don’t want him to stay because he feels, ‘Oh, Jen needs me. He wants to be here, so I want him to be here. Bravo broadcasts The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City every Wednesday at 8 p.m.
