To honour her father Phil Collins on the occasion of his 72nd birthday, Lily Collins compared herself to her father.

The actress, 33, captioned a snapshot of her and her father that she uploaded on Instagram on Monday with the phrase “Like father, like daughter.” Father, happy birthday.

The vocalist of “In The Air Tonight,” lying inside a bathtub, was seen gazing up at the camera in one of the pictures. She proceeded to contrast that with a photo of herself in a bathtub rocking a nice blue outfit.

The actor for Netflix also demonstrated how she draws style ideas from her father by posting numerous images of the two of them looking alike in clothing. She wore overalls, a blue jacket, and a tuxedo, just like her father, in the pictures she posted on social media.

She concluded her post by saying, “Thank you for being a continual inspiration, a constant laugh, and a constant legend. I love you so much and am celebrating you big time today!…”

Many of Lily’s fans stated in the comments section that they had no idea the actress was the Grammy-winning musician’s child.

“Am I the only one just learning This is her dad ?! Doh 😖,” one person wrote.

“PHIL COLLINS IS YOUR DAD?! This made my month,” a second person commented.

“Omg I didn’t even know this information! I love Phil😍,” a third said.

In addition, a couple of her “Emily in Paris” co-stars went to the post to wish her father a happy birthday.

“so cute!!!” Ashley Park wrote.

“My idol…😊,” William Abadie said.

Despite the endearing Instagram picture, Lily and her father have never had an easy relationship.

He wasn’t around a lot when she was little, she admitted in her memoir “Unfiltered: No Shame, No Regrets, Just Me” published in 2017.

“Because my dad was often gone, I never wanted to do anything that would make him stay away even longer,” the actress wrote.

“I became extra careful about what I said and how I said it, afraid he’d think I was angry or didn’t love him. And the truth is, I was angry. I missed him and wanted him there.”

She noted how her “deepest insecurities” were often the result of problems with her father. Lily finally admitted that she had forgiven him.

“I now understand that my frustrations surrounding our communication are not about changing you, but accepting you as you are,” she wrote. “I forgive you for not always being there when I needed and for not being the dad I expected. I forgive the mistakes you made.”

Lily posted a heartfelt tribute to Father’s Day on social media the year before.
