M3GAN is still dominating the global box office and, as it should, scaring audiences away from other films. With M3GAN’s domination spanning international borders, the horror genre began the year stunning audiences in theatres all across the country. This weekend, the horror film crossed the $50 million mark globally. On Sunday, it earned $51.3 million, bringing its worldwide tally above $124 million.

The international success of the horror movie phenomenon keeps smashing records and thrilling crowds in theatres all around the world. This success for a $12 million film could be related to the fact that it keeps expanding internationally; just last week, it debuted in 30 new international countries. This weekend, it debuted in Brazil and Argentina to frightful reviews, demonstrating a performance that can hold its own against horror classics like Smile, Invisible Man, The Black Phone, and Halloween Ends.

This weekend, the horror picture grossed $1.4 million in Brazil alone, ranking third among pandemic horror films for opening day only behind The Conjuring 3 and Orphan: First Kill. Due to its outstanding performance in both popular and mixed cinemas on Saturday, M3GAN even outperformed Avatar: The Way of Water in terms of attendance. M3GAN continued to rule in Brazil as its three-day performance was nearly twice as strong as Black Phone, which debuted over the holidays when moviegoers are known to swarm the theatres. The movie opened in third place in Argentina and earned $0.4 million over the course of the weekend, topping Black Phone and more than double Paramount’s viral horror hit Smile.

M3GAN, which reached $5.7 million on Saturday and surpassed new entry Babylon, ascended to number 2 on its second launching weekend in the UK and Ireland. M3GAN also kept up its strong performance in Germany, earning $2.8 million on its second opening weekend there as well as $2.9 million in Australia. Another notable achievement was the film’s third-weekend box office total of $2.9 million in Spain, $2.2 million in Italy, $1.0 million in the Netherlands, and $3.5 million in France.

There is no indication that the post-pandemic horror film will soon lose its grip on the box office. Despite being a killer robot, M3GAN’s fan base keeps expanding, and she has developed an online following thanks to her dance movements, sense of style, and devotion. In the movie M3GAN, a lifelike doll with artificial intelligence has been trained to be a child’s best friend and a parent’s ally. At Universal, a follow-up has already been ordered, with a 2025 release date.
